Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari

Next to the entrance to Kanyakumari is Vivekanandapuram. Vivekanandapuram is the only place to stay in Kanyakumari. A huge campus filled with neem trees. Cheap, clean, and free. Close to everything important in Kanyakumari. I walked to Triveni Sangam to see the sunrise every morning. The walls display Vivekananda's quotes. Butterflies come close and peacocks roam in this campus. When Vivekananda came to Kanyakumari, he was a penniless monk. This campus is a great boon to travelers who want to travel on a budget. We must revive India's great tradition of traveling on budget because historically monks traveled even more than traders.
